The student record, connected.
Kestrel holds the student record and connects it to the specialist systems your school already runs.
The record, and the specialists around it.
The rule is simple: if the data is about a person at your school, it belongs on the record and we own it. If the work is a specialism with a better product already serving it, we hold the data that feeds it. We hand the work over.
Each system doing the job it was built for.
Single sign-on and shared education data standards let systems agree on who a person is without being the same system. Kestrel does the student record: each person, each enrolment and each family relationship. Finance, payroll and timetable construction stay with software built only for those jobs.
Students, staff and rooms go out to your timetabler, and the finished timetable comes back. Class rosters go out to the tools that read them. Employment details arrive from your HR system. Your people sign in with the account your school already runs.
Where Kestrel hands over.
Some work belongs with a specialist. Kestrel holds the record those systems need, and leaves the specialism to them.

Ask about an integrationAn API for everything else.
Your school issues its own API tokens, each scoped and each with an expiry. They cover people and the roles they hold, and who pays a student’s fees, with endpoints for alumni, class rosters, staff import, website enquiries and tour bookings, and nightly exports.
The reference is public, so you can judge an integration before you sign anything. It is generated from the server’s own routes, so it cannot drift from what the API accepts.
The API reference covers tokens, scopes and each endpoint. Questions go to api@hoverpoint.io.

How does Kestrel work with our timetabling software?
Your timetabler keeps building the timetable. Kestrel serves Edval or Timetabling Solutions the students, staff, rooms, bells and calendar over LISS, and takes the published timetable and daily variations back.
How do people at the school sign in?
With the account your school already runs: SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect against Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, with your directory’s groups deciding each person’s standing.
Which government returns does Kestrel produce?
The non-government schools census, the Address Collection and STATS attendance as SchoolsHUB files, and enrolment and assessment files for VASS and NESA Schools Online.
Can we connect our own systems?
Yes. Your school issues its own API tokens, each scoped and each with an expiry, with endpoints for people and the roles they hold, alumni, class rosters for OneRoster and School Data Sync, staff import, website enquiries and tour bookings, and nightly exports. The full reference is published at app.kestrel.hoverpoint.io/docs/api.
